Camp Moore Confederate Museum includes numerous artifacts, documents and displays that help explain the Civil War and the importance of Camp Moore and the soldier’s life during that time. In the Camp Moore Cemetery, a Southern soldier holding his long rifle, stands atop a Confederate monument as if standing watch over the graves. Camp Moore was the largest Confederate training camp in Louisiana and the only Confederate training camp open to the public.

The old Venable Building is the home for the Kentwood Museum. Timber, brick and dairy industries have been the building blocks for Kentwood. Displays depict the lifestyles, culture and industry in the Kentwood area from the 1800’s. The history of the famous Kentwood Spring Water from the deep flowing artesian well is on display as well as an exhibit of memorabilia from Kentwood’s own Britney Spears, international singing star and actress. Open Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Last tour scheduled at 3:00 p.m.

Located on the Washington Parish Fairgrounds on the banks of the lovely stream from which the settlement takes its name, sits a collection of pioneer cabins built in the mid-to-late 1800s and early 1900s. The Settlement began as a tribute to the pioneering spirit of Washington Parish. Mile Branch Settlement is open only twice each year during the Washington Parish Fair in the third week of October and Thanksgiving weekend for the Pioneer Christmas celebration.

Sweet Home Baptist Church depicts the rich history and lives of the African Americans of the Kentwood Community beginning in 1888. Tammany Trace
The Tammany Trace is Louisiana’s first rail-to-trail conversion that provides a multi-use, 31 mile recreational corridor for pedestrians, bicycles, equestrians, roller bladders and joggers connecting five communities – Abita Springs, Covington, Mandeville, Lacombe and Slidell. You can observe the natural habitat, bayous, streams and rivers from the vantage point of 31 bridges built on the original railroad trestles.
