St. Tammany Parish is strategically located to provide easy access to New Orleans, the Gulf Coast and the major population centers of the vibrant gulf-south.

Located on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, St. Tammany has easy access to New Orleans via the Causeway or the I-10 Twin Span, Interstates 12, 10 55 and 59, U. S. Hwy. 190 and a vast array of state highways conveniently ties us to the entire country.  If you preferred source of travel is by air, St. Tammany has two airports for commuter travel and two international airports within an hours drive.

St. Tammany has always been an attractive and desirable location for those seeking the good life.  Our parish (county) encompasses 854 square miles.  Its communities, comprising Abita Springs, Bush, Covington, Folsom, Lacombe, Madisonville, Mandeville, Pearl River, Slidell, Sun and Talisheek, have something to offer everyone-from urban neighborhoods and small towns, to artists' meccas, historic villages and panoramic countrysides.

Waterfront living and recreation is available along Lake Pontchartrain and the many bayous and rivers.  With its many waterways, St. Tammany has a tropical aura with average temperatures ranging from 41 degrees in January to 93 degrees in July.

St. Tammany Parish has a rich cultural heritage and history.  The incredibly diverse community contributes to our unique cultural identity.  There are dancers, musicians, actors, preservationist, historians, poets, writers and working artists across St. Tammany.  St. Tammany residents and visitors participate in many annual outdoor fairs and festivals ranging from art and music to livestock, seafood and crafts.  We are home to four live theatres with full seasons of plays and performances, several ballet and dance companies and over 60 non-profit arts organizations.

Approximately 23% or 127,698 acres of St. Tammany parish is green space that has been set aside by the Louisiana Nature Conservancy and the state for state parks.  This provides residents and visitors opportunities for fishing, hunting, bird watching, hiking and just enjoying the outdoors.  There are nine golf courses, six museums and two state parks.  The Tammany Trace is Louisiana's first rail-to-trail conversion that provides a multi-use, 32 mile recreational corridor for pedestrians, bicycles, equestrians, roller bladders and joggers.

For those seeking the big-city activity, Baton Rouge, 60 miles to the west, and New Orleans, 35 miles to the south, offer major league sports, theatrical, musical and artistic entertainment, museums, art galleries, history-rich venues and casinos.  If a plethora of casinos and entertainment is what you're looking for, the Gulf Coast communities of Bay St. Louis, Gulfport, and Biloxi, Mississippi start within a 30-minute drive east of St. Tammany on Interstate I-10.

Our neighbors across Lake Pontchartrain, New Orleans, may be known the world over for its Cajun and Creole cuisine, but the Northshore has a flavor all its own, offering delicacies in unforgettably delightful settings.

Whether you're looking for a romantic escape, a restaurant with a waterfront view or somewhere with familiar Louisiana fare, they can all be found in St. Tammany.

Master Chefs command the kitchens or restaurants throughout the Northshore.  Their flair for creative cuisine nicely compliments the comfortable and casually elegant atmosphere found in St. Tammany eateries.
